I had so much fun planning and implementing a bridal shower for our Ashley babe with family and friends from both sides of her and Paul's family!
Of course it was a PINK slash PRINCESS slash Disney theme held at the hotel decorated with shabby chic flags, a Pinterest quotes relating to our guests of honor (Ash and Paul); romantic and inspirational quotes and quotes relating to PINK and PRINCESS lol combined with photos of them attached (including two of Ash as a child and a teen still wearing tiaras for dress-up and a birthday party). The quotes were attached to two clothes lines hung with wooden clothes pins; I thought of this idea as an added way to focus on the couple. Also, a darling display of framed engagement photos and keepsakes from her childhood (two of my dearest was a size 1 pink cowgirl boot that my mom sent her along with an entire pink cowgirl outfit for her first birthday western theme party and her tiny pink ballet slippers she wore when she started dance classes at age 4). We actually shipped all sorts of cute things to decorate for both the shower and wedding displays from home to be enjoyed!
We had a fabulous luncheon of chicken salad on croissants, pasta salad (Ash made), potato salad, etc., and a darling display with yummy homemade brownies one of Paul's grandmothers made from scratch along with the most darling cupcakes ever that were provided by Paul's mom.
The shower began with my famous (tongue in cheek) skit I call "Chicken plucker" adapted to a bridal shower theme - it is absolutely hilarious! I have written many versions throughout the years and then Jon and I have performed it with friends for various ward and stake activities, etc. This was followed by everyone creating their own tiaras to wear from aluminum foil for our princess theme :) I use foil in my business workshops for various activities and it occurred to me this would be something fun to do for the shower; everyone had a great time using their creative flair!
I then facilitated another new twist on an activity I use in business designed to help people learn more about one another. It's comprised of many unusual questions asked the guests and their compiled answers were recorded and then given to Paul and Ash to enjoy reading in their entirety at their leisure. Guests loved hearing many of the answers given. I then had the guests write their treasured advice for the happy couple, which is an age old shower activity. Rather than play a lot of mindless games I wanted the shower to be more meaningful and memorable with the skit and unique activities and this then allowed for more time to visit and get to know one another :)
Ash was showered
with so many lovely gifts! The first of which I had them open was
Mickey and Minnie Mouse bride and groom hats/ears Jon and I purchased
for them when we were at Disneyworld in September. They looked so cute
in their new hats (and of course hers has a tiara on top of it!) and were able to wear them to Disneyland on their
honeymoon as well It was great fun for everyone including Jon, Cam and
uncle Malc who sat in the open area that flowed into the party room so
they could eat, visit and observe what was going on along with Gary,
Paul's dad and an uncle. It was such a fun event!
We love you kidlets to the moon and back! xoxo
