My daughter Ashley posted this on my Facebook wall for Mother's Day ; needless to say I was very moved and absolutely DELIGHTED! I thought all of you wonderful women out there reading my blog would enjoy this and be able to relate to our messages to one another.
The responsibility mothers have today has never required more vigilance. More than at any time in the history of the world, we need mothers who know. Children are being born into a world where they "wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12). However, mothers need not fear. When mothers know who they are and who God is and have made covenants with Him, they will have great power and influence for good on their children. There is eternal influence and power in motherhood.
Mothers Who Know Honor Sacred Ordinances and Covenants. Mothers Who Know Are Nurturers. Mothers Who Know are Leaders. Mothers Who Know Stand Strong and Immovable. Who will prepare this righteous generation of sons and daughters? Latter-day Saint women who do this - women who know and love the Lord and bear testimony of Him. Women who are strong and immovable and who do not give up during difficult and discouraging times. We are led by an inspired prophet of God who has called upon the women of the Church to "stand strong and immovable for that which is correct and proper under the plan of the Lord." He has asked us to "begin in (our) own homes" to teach children the ways of truth. (Julie Beck, Oct 2007 General Conference)
... Mommy, I'm so grateful to have a mother who knows. I love you so much!! Happy Mother's Day♥
To Ashley: Oh my goodness Ashley babe you have no idea how you have made my day so very special! This powerful yet tender message being shared by my daughter makes my heart sing :) For you to realize the dedication and focus of all mothers who choose to follow Christ, who have a deep and abiding love for Him and our Heavenly Father is incredible. As mother's we all experience periods of doubting ourselves as to whether or not we are measuring up to the sacred task of being righteous, loving, effective mothers but hope springs eternal as we seek to rear our children in a manner which is pleasing to the Lord. I am so proud of you baby; not for your many talents and accomplishments, though they are magnificent, but for the woman you are becoming; the insight and understanding you are developing. You, yourself, will be an incredible wife and mother one day soon! xoxo
Rip roaring fun in Utah with a few family and friends for Cameron's graduation party! See www.facebook.com/rebeccachristeson for many of the photos :) We love all y'all and were delighted to spend time with everyone at the party, at restaurants and just hanging at the hotel. It was also delightful having Jon, Cam, Ash and myself all in the same part of the country at the same time enjoying our family adventures together! Way to go Cam, you have an exceedingly bright future ahead of you!
